Hamburg 1:41am / August 28, 2005

Just to give you a quick update, Svea's in Siena, Italy at the moment, on a week-long school trip. Has anyone ever had a week-long school trip before? I think the longest I ever had was an afternoon at the Toronto Zoo. But a trip to another country?? Also, Monday is my first pay day in a very long time, and I'm very much looking forward to it (and I imagine TD is also looking forward to it...my visa and line of credit are both over their limits!)

Anyway.. here are some pictures from our trip to Hamburg in June. Svea's dad lives there with her step-mom and her brother and sister. In the photos, you can see her sister, lots of buildings around Hamburg, and photos from an art gallery in Hamburg including a) an owl by picasso, b) "the kiss" by Brancusi, a pretty famous sculpture we had to memorize in high school art class, c) paintings by Paul Klee, my favourite artist. I wasn't expecting them and all of a sudden there they were. That was very cool.

Hamburg's a beautiful city. It reminds me a lot of Barrie, and of lots of other cities put together..bits of Amsterdam, Berlin, Toronto, etc. And in case you're wondering, yes, I did eat a Hamburger in Hamburg. At Burger King. It was exactly like any hamburger I've ever had at a Burger King..shitty :)
