Today, I woke up early, determined to go see the museums. I got to one of the museums a little before noon only to find out that they all close on Mondays. Horrible. I decided to make a day of it anyway, and went to the radio and television tower, somewhat like the CN Tower, called Fernsehturm.
From up there I really got a sense of the size of Berlin, and many very scenic photos. I had coffee in a rotating restaurant, same as the CN Tower, and planned out my walking route for the rest of the day. It led me down streets with many huge government buildings, many built in the days Hitler was in power from what I understand. I eventually went back to the large central park to relax before heading back.
Later, in the hostel, the bar was completely full of Danish students and their teachers on a school trip. I thought this would ruin my fun, and was on my way to go to bed early when a couple of drunk 17-year-olds asked me to go back to the bar for a drink. I thought, hell, might as well hang out for a while. I should note the drinking age in Germany is 16. I ended up meeting a whole bunch of these Danish kids (who all spoke fairly decent English surprisingly) and played some games of pool with a few of them. Later on, I ended up meeting a bunch of other older Germans and Russians as well. The night turned out to be a lot more fun than I expected.
