At 6am we arrived in San Antonio. The first hotel we asked was completely booked, but flukely some guy asked us if we need somewhere to stay and said he had some rooms. We stayed in an independant hotel that was really just the upstairs to some people's house. It was cheap and exactly what we needed at a desperate time early in the morning.
As we were warned, San Antonio is a total tourist location. It reminds me of Niagara Falls or Wasaga Beach except worse. Here, you can notice even more how few locals there are. Even all the people who work here are English. So really, it's like an international party city, but besides the architecture you don't really notice Spain.
The bars don't open until midnight here and stay open until 6am, so the concept here is that people sleep during the day. Everywhere serves English breakfast for all the hungover visitors.
Sean and I did some recording and sat out on my patio looking over the neglected architecture around here. At about 1am we decided to find some of these bars. Just 200m down the street and around the corner we were awestruck to see the whole street was a giant bar. Every single business on the street was a bar and they all had patios out on the street. I'd say there were around 100 bars in a very small area, nothing like I'd seen before. We picked a random one and had a very interesting English waiter who ended up hanging out with us quite a bit.
